J.K. Rowling did a fantastic job writing Order of the Phoenix. It was exciting, gripping, and suspenseful. There are so many things I could rave about but I'll stop myself.The writing was, as always, superb. The characters were consistent but I must say, Harry and Sirius were very moody in this book. One moment Harry would be happy then two sentences later he'd be angry about something. It didn't bother me all that much it was just a little surprising. I mean, no one's emotions change that quickly, right? Anyway, Sirius's moodiness is understandable but sometimes Harry's is just...ridiculous.
Having watched the movie before reading the book, I kind of knew what to expect but I really enjoyed how Rowling focused on Harry's time at school in this book. Sirius's death was definately a lot sadder in this book than it was in the movie. I'd always wished he had lived by now, after reading the fifth book, I really wish he had.
One of the reasons I was eager to read this book though is because of Snape's memory. Having ready all the other books, I'd never actually had the description of it. I must say, after reading about it, I like Snape even more now. For a while there I wasn't sure if I liked Sirius so much anymore but I got past that. Poor Snape.
Anyway, the story was amazing and different from the other books. Umbridge is even more evil than the way she was portrayed in the movie and I thought they did pretty good. I was glad that the ending part with the Ministry and everything was only about a hundred pages. Rowling had been building up to it for so long that I think it would've killed me if it had been longer.
